2006 Book Releases

Writing our World Press, Chicago announces the release of two important books in the summer, 2006. Quiet Guys Can Do Great Things, Too: A Black Accountant's Success Story, is an autobiography by former KPMG partner Frank Ross, as told to Janis F. Kearney. Conversations: William Jefferson Clinton, from Hope to Harlem, by Clinton diarist Janis F. Kearney, is an oral biography centered around conversations with African Americans from every region of the country, and spanning 30 years of William Jefferson Clinton's political career.

President Clinton helps Launch former Diarist's Presidential Biography

Thank goodness the new adage: "What Happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" doesn't apply to the recent launch of Janis F. Kearney's

third book, Conversations: William Jefferson Clinton...from Hope to Harlem. The September 7th Conversations Book Launch was a huge success. Many of the interviewees from the oral biography were in attendance, proud to be included in a presidential biography. The Launch also generated local, national and even international media coverage. The event has already been aired on C-Span's Book TV, and generated and interview with the Tavis Smiley show. Kearney admits that her small publishing company (Writing our World Press) could never afford the kind of press coverage received from the launching of her new book. About the man who is the central character in her biography, Kearney says, "President Clinton was a great president, a wonderful boss and continues to make those of us who know him, very, very proud." She adds, "...what Conversations...from Hope to Harlem

does, is allow African Americans to have a voice in presidential history. We have a vested interest in our leaders, and in the case of William Jefferson Clinton, this book proves that we have a very personal interest."

By far, William Jefferson Clinton's appearance on stage with the author during the September book launch, not only speaks to their mutual admiration, but is the best evidence of this book's place in the archives of presidential history. Check out recent interviews with

Quiet Guys Can Do Great Things, too: a Black Accountant's Success Story

By Frank K. Ross, as told to Janis F. Kearney

Quiet Guys Front Cover While most readers won't recognize his name, Frank K. Ross is a name worth remembering; and his story is one worth reading. Frank K. Ross is an American enigma-a quiet giant who made history in the world of corporate accounting. His story is both familiar and unique.

Frank left the small Caribbean island of St. Kitts at age 7 and ended up in the boardroom of Peat Marwick, one of the top accounting firms in the world. This West Indian immigrant dared fate and found success in spite of the times and a world of obstacles. Inside the covers of Quiet Guys Can Do Great Things, Too are two fascinating stories-both told through the eyes of Frank K. Ross.

Quiet Guys Can Do Great Things, Too is an ageless story of immigrants leaving behind the world they know to find the elusive American dream. It chronicles the Ross family's journey from their warm, lush native island to Yonkers, New York-a world of concrete, tall buildings and cold, dreary winters that seem to last forever. Frank K. Ross offers a mesmerizing glimpse into both worlds.

Quiet Guys Can Do Great Things, Too shares heartwarming tales of Frank's happy childhood as an island boy in the shadow of a father he never knew but fondly remembers as larger than life. The Ross family, like immigrants from every corner of the world, brought with them faith and a belief in miracles and in themselves.

The story within Frank K. Ross' story is his blueprint for life and for success; a guide for young Americans, especially young minorities seeking success in today's corporate world. Frank shares his experiences as a young professional, as an entrepreneur, and finally as a partner in the corporate boardroom of the international accounting firm of KPMG. Quiet Guys Can Do Great Things, Too is a poignant immigrant's story and a guide for those seeking success in life and in work. This quiet giant has finally spoken and in doing so shares invaluable lessons for life.
